University of Massachusetts Amherst Chancellor Javier Reyes has been recognized by Amplify LatinX as one of the “ALX100 Amplifiers,” a list honoring leaders who inspire and uplift the Latinx community in Massachusetts. The Wellesley-based nonprofit unveiled the list during Hispanic Heritage Month, with an awards reception attended by notable figures like Gov. Maura Healey and Boston Mayor Michelle Wu. The initiative aims to celebrate the accomplishments of the Latinx community and promote cultural understanding. Chancellor Reyes, the first Hispanic chancellor at UMass Amherst, is acknowledged for his dedication to public higher education. Amplify LatinX plans to showcase the honorees in a traveling installation across Massachusetts to highlight their diverse histories, professions, cultures, languages, traditions, and identities.
